When I first started my photography business, I thought my clients knew best what they wanted from their photography session. I quickly realized that most people have an intangible idea of what they want but it is up to me to deliver not only what they say they want but also what they wanted but didn’t even realize they wanted until they saw their images. Business owners have a lot on their plates and they wear many hats not only in their businesses, but in their personal lives too. And like most people, they don’t always enjoy taking time out of their day to get their headshots taken. I completely understand!
It’s not uncommon for business owners to contact me for a headshot asking for 10 minutes of my time for a quick head and shoulders photograph of themselves on a standard backdrop. Sure, I can take a head and shoulder headshot, but I will deliver a whole lot more. Before you even arrive at my studio, you will feel comfortable in choice of what to wear, what to bring and how to apply your make-up. You’ll feel comfortable with me, knowing I’ll pose you to look your best while we are taking photos. You’ll receive the images that you wanted but you’ll also receive additional styles and poses that you’ll love, but didn’t know you wanted. It’s short-sighted to hire a professional photographer and ask for a simple head and shoulder photograph. That shot may be what’s needed for your business website, and perhaps that’s all the energy you’d like to put toward getting your photo taken (especially if having your photo taken is up there on your list of least favorite things to do in life). But, once you’re in front of the lens, let’s maximize your time. Are you on social media (Gmail, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Evite, etc.); do you speak in public; do you have business cards or brochures; do you write articles or blog posts; do you send thank you notes or holiday cards to your clients; do you volunteer; do you have a side job; would your spouse, mother/father, grandparent, or child like a professional portrait of you; will you be looking for another job within the next five years?
I will use my talent and skills as a trained photographer and a business owner to deliver what you want plus a little more. Here are a couple samples of both the 30 minutes studio session galleries and the 60 minute business branding session.
